"Ropers"

This drawing was created when I was living in Mira Loma, California. I took my daughters down to the local arena to watch the team ropers practicing. Drawing the cowboys and horses was fun but, in truth, stippling in the kicked up dirt of the arena was far more fun. The wavy patterns and countless value changes in the dirt of the arena was time consuming but the effect in pen & ink resulted in a wonderful image.

Here is a small detailed image of the back horses rear legs. This will give you a better view of the individual dots that compose the drawing.
