1953 MG Sportscar
16" X 20"
This portrait of an MG sportscar
is not very different from the one my Uncle owned when I was a boy. In thinking
back, this one is in much better shape. These old sportscars had a unique
grace and style of their own and I doubt anyone who grew up during the 50's
or 60's wouldn't recognize one nor deny the offer for a ride in one ! They
were made long before those years but to me that is when their popularity
really peaked. What I love about an MG is that long swept front fender that
flairs out from the engine compartment and eventually becomes the running
board near the suicide doors. Too cool! Like aircraft, I love doing automobiles
simply because it is so fun to do the reflections on the painted surfaces.
Pen sizes were 6X0, 3X0, 00 and 0 and the background is what took forever
to do not the car. I worked on this drawing spaced out over a two month period.
