This is my second barrel racing image. This was drawn from a combination of two reference photos I took at a rodeo near Paso Robles, CA. I meant to reverse the stripes on the barrel on this one so as not to duplicate the barrel from the first drawing. I never checked it until I was finished with this one and by then it was too late. I love the sheer power you can see in a horses rear and am always amazed at how fast they can accelerate even with the weight of the rider on them.
This was drawn on 11"x14" Bainbridge 1000 Illustration board with Rapidographs.
